Donate Winter Coats in Milwaukee: A Simple Act of Warmth Can Change Everything

As the cold settles over Milwaukee, one thing becomes clear. We need more coats. 

At Port of Missions Outreach Ministries, we meet families every week who are simply trying to stay warm. Winter in our city is harsh, and without proper clothing, the cold becomes more than uncomfortable. It becomes dangerous. 

Last week, a woman walked in with her young son. She did not ask for groceries or furniture. She had one quiet, heartfelt request. Do you have a coat for me? 

Her children had coats. But she did not. Like so many mothers, she made sure her children were covered first. Now she was hoping there might be something left for her. 

We led her to the small rack of coats we had available. Just a few pieces remained from recent winter coat donations. As she moved each one along the rack, I silently prayed. 

Lord, please help her find one that fits. She tried one on. Too tight. Another one. The sleeves were short. Then she picked the last coat we had in her size. 

It zipped up with ease. The sleeves fit. The length was perfect. It even matched the scarf she had picked out earlier. She smiled. She turned to us and said, “Thank you for your generosity.” Her children were warm. And now she was too. As she left, I stood there and whispered once again. Lord, we need more coats. 

This story is just one of many. Every coat we give out is connected to a real person with real needs. A coat may seem like a small thing, but to someone walking through winter without one, it means everything.

Adult Men’s winter coats in all sizes women’s coats in S through 4XL children’s winter coats and snow gear hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, and warm socks winter boots for all ages financial donations to help purchase specific sizes

Port of Missions Outreach Ministries 3975 N 78th St, Milwaukee, WI 53222 (Lower Level) Drop-off hours: Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM 

We also welcome coat drives and group donations from schools, churches, businesses, and anyone who feels led to support.
